Grabbing the sleeve of his coat, greeting him as if it were a person.
Geppetto: H ello my new friend, how are you?
Geppetto goes to sit down on another chair, putting the piece of wood in front of it, but he falls onto
the floor.
Geppetto: Auuuu!
We can hear a child giggle.
Geppetto: What? Who is laughing?
We hear the laughter again and Geppetto realizes that it was the tree trunk.
Geppetto: Oh! It’s you! My new friend. I see!!! You like to play like a child. Mmmmm, let me see. Yes!
You will be a child!
Geppetto puts the wood inside a box and starts working with it. There is some music while
Geppetto is working. Geppetto makes a wooden puppet.
(Looking inside the box) Oh! Perfect! Now, the strings. (Geppetto puts the strings on
the puppet)
Perfect! You’re ready. Come and meet your new friends.
Geppetto picks up the puppet strings and the actor comes out of the box acting like a puppet.
Geppetto introduces Pinocchio to his other puppets.
Geppetto: Look! This is my workshop, and these are my friends. This is Pichu. Carlo and Mou. And
this is...a...a...mmmmm. Pinocchio! Do you like it?
Pinocchio laughs.
Geppetto: I think you like it...Pinocchio will be your name. My friends, this is Pinocchio.

Geppetto yawns.
Geppetto: (Yawning) Aaaaaaa! I am very tired. Today I have worked hard. Time to go to sleep.
Geppetto sits Pinocchio on a chair.
Geppetto: Good night my friends. Goodnight Pinocchio. (Geppetto strokes Pinocchio and he
laughs) Thank you Pinocchio, you’re a good boy. If you were a real child you could really
help me, and I could teach you many things. If you were a real boy. A real boy...real.
Geppetto falls asleep.

Scene 2

Lights down, we can heard a sweet melody. A Fairy Godmother enters into the Geppetto’s house

TELL THE TRUTH

Let’s see the things you can do with your mouth
You can eat
I can eat
You can scream
I can scream
You can sing
I can sing
You can speak
But always tell the truth
It’s the best thing for you
You can smile
I can smile
You can laugh
I can laugh
You can cry
I can cry
You can talk
But always tell the truth
It’s the best thing for you
If you always tell the truth
You will grow so soon
But if you lie your nose will grow
Grow, grow, grow, grow

You can smile
You can laugh
You can cry
You can talk
But always tell the truth
It’s the better for you
If you always tell the truth
You will grow so soon
But if you lie your nose will grow
Grow, grow, grow, grow

I LOVE TO MOVE

I love to move
I love to move
I love to move
Even if I am made of wood
I love to move
You have to move
You have to move
You have to move
Even if you are made of wood
You have to move

If your heart is strong enough
You can be what you want
If you run, run and run
You can go to till the stars
Even you are made of wood
We have to move
I love to move
I love to move
I love to move
Even if I am made of wood
I love to move
If your heart is strong enough
You can be what you want
If you run, run and run
You can go to till the stars
Even you are made of wood
We have to move
